The Path: Kebler Pass, Colorado

Best time to
visit:
October

Why it's worth
a visit:
The Northeast isn't the only place in the country to witness the
changing colors of the leaves. Out in the Centennial State, there's Kebler Pass, where cyclists can gaze at the magnificent aspen trees, as their leaves turn
to a brilliant gold color amongst the West Elk Mountains. This specific trail
follows a railroad path as well, but this time, the surface varies between
gravel and paved conditions. Be aware that the path is closed starting in
November for the winter season.

The Path: Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, Connecticut and Massachusetts

Best time to
visit:
Mid-September to October

Why it's worth
a visit:
There are traces of the trail's former canal past, especially in
Cheshire, Massachusetts where the home of a lock keeper (who maintained the waterway) has been restored into a museum. In the smaller state, you can make out the shape of Sleeping Giant, the sprawling high-rising park.

visit:
Early October

Why it's worth
a visit:
